The Guild welcomes all community members to join us for a morning of connection to welcome newly practicing therapists into our community. Ashley Radtke and Valerie Hughes will host a workshop supporting new clinicians in developing awareness of marketing and connecting in a field that can often feel a bit siloed for the first 45 minutes. The rest of our morning will be focused on mingling and connecting. Supervisors, mentors, and more seasoned community members are encouraged to join for community building in-person!

Learning Objectives:

    1. Participants will learn ways to market themselves and their work with the intention of attracting clients within their specialties.
    2. Participants will gain insight into resume building and interview practices appropriate to the counseling field.
    3. Participants will develop skills to assess potential supervisors and community supports for goodness of fit for their clinical development.

Valerie Hughes (she/they) is a private-practice therapist and supervisor working with Integrated Health Counseling and adjunct professor at University of Missouri-Kansas City. They are also currently completing their sexual health certificate through University of Michigan. Valerie's clinical focus is on complex trauma in LGBTQIA+, Polyam/CNM, Kinky/Fetish, and Sex Worker communities and has experience in working with folks who have issues related to substance use. In her free time, Valerie enjoys yoga, board games, beautiful food (eating and making), and reading (she's in a high-fantasy era and is taking recs).

Ashley Radtke (she/they) is a liberation focused therapist in private practice for 10 years, with previous experience working in wellness centers, group practice and community mental health. She has practiced in Texas, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas. They are currently completing a certificate in Psychology of Deep Resilience; Addressing Ecoanxiety and Climate Distress for Individual, Social and Ecological Well-being. Ashley is a systems focused relationship specialist, climate aware psychologist, certified integrative mental health provider, embodied healing and justice advocate, art as healing enthusiast and endless playlist maker.

        Parking instructions:

We recommend parking in the Cherry Street Garage off Oak Street, near 50th Street. You can find metered parking on the FIFTH FLOOR and can pay by app.

The Admin & Conference Center (5115 Oak Street, 2nd floor Plaza Room) is about a block and a half away. The skywalk from the garage fifth floor will get you headed in the right direction. Here's a map with both locations highlighted.
