Presenter Biography:
John W. Stump, Jr., LMFT, CCTP, is a Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma
Professional. John holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Concentration in
Criminal Justice from West Virginia University and a Masters of Science in
Family Therapy from Friends University in Lenexa, Kansas. As a veteran of the
U. S. Army and within the civilian community, John spent twenty years in the
fields of law enforcement, private/corporate security, and private investigations.
In addition to his position of owner and therapist at Kansas City Family Therapy
for the past fourteen years, John has served as a therapist with the Kansas City,
Kansas Police Department, the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department,
Military Family Life Consultant with the U. S. Army and held the position as
Director of Psychological Health with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves with
units in Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. At Kansas City Family Therapy, John
serves children, youth and adults who have been impacted by trauma. He is
trained in multiple modalities of therapy to include Trauma-Informed Care,
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structured Sensory
Interventions for Traumatized Children, Adolescents, and Parents, Mindfulness,
and Bal-A-Vis-X (
Balance, Auditory, Vision, Exercises for Brain and Body
Integration).
John is the proud father of two wonderful children and one grandson. He spends his time focusing on self-care while fishing, boating, and spending time with his family here in Kansas City and West Virginia.
